Description
“Once on a visit to a refugee❜s shelter, I saw sunlight streaming in the window through potted plant leaves. I felt upset thinking that the houses in the camps have no view from their windows and sometimes no windows at all. ?Akhono alo ashe janala khola rakhi, pichone gaan gai khachay posha pakhi (Sunlight streams through the open window while a caged bird sings to me,)❜ is a song that I remember when I think of the Rohingyas cramped in tiny houses,” said Tithi the art facilitator. Windows are gateways to the outside world but in camps windows don❜t have any view. This project allowed women to fondly remember the windows from their old houses in Myanmar. Asmida❜s window was made from mud in Myanmar and decorated with flowers. There are no windows at the shelter. She drew this window by remembering her old one.
